Hi everyone
today I will talk about the Food Forest. This is a sustainable system based on
woodland ecosystems, but incorporating food trees, shrubs, herbs and perennial
vegetables which have yields directly useful to humans. These species can intermixed
to grow in layer, to build a structure like woodland habitat.
The layers
are, from the higher to smallest: Canopy
(large fruit &nut trees), Low three layer (dwarf fruit trees), Shrub layer
(currants & berries), Herbaceous (comfreys, beets, herbs), Rhizosphere
(root vegetables), Soil surface (ground cover, strawberry, etc) and the Vertical
layer (climbers, vines)
This system
have a low-maintenance, therefore, is sustainable in the time. Furthermore,
provides food and products used on the medicine. In my opinion this system can
be used in Chile, on the zones far away the high cities, because required zones
without higher deterioration in the start, later the system can be maintenance
for yourself.
This system
will be good for the people with low resources in the Agricola zones, but use
this system in the scientific zone need more investigation.
See you
later.
